SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS - Daniel Salaverría

Built at Woolwich. Launched in 1637, she was considered the most beautiful English vessel. Renamed Royal Sovereign. The Dutch called her "The Golden Devil". First English three-deck vessel. Length: 38.70 m. Breadth: 14.63 m. Depth: 7.46 m. Load: 1,637 tons of displacement. High firing power. More than 100 guns. The sculptures she was furnished with accounted for one fourth of her shipbuilding price. In 1652 she was converted into a two-deck vessel.
